שָׁלוֹם (Shalom) – Peace
Transliteration: Shalom
Psalm 4 introduces us to "שָׁלוֹם" (Shalom, 'peace'), a wholeness that is more than just the absence of conflict—it is a sense of being settled, secure, and unhurried in your soul. The Psalm teaches that you can find calm not by denying your worries, but by pausing and reflecting, especially in the quiet of night, alone with your thoughts and prayers.
Shalom is a gift that may arrive unexpectedly: during late-night worry, an exhale, a memory of someone’s care. When you’re afraid to sleep, uncertain what tomorrow will bring, these verses tell you: lay down your burdens, breathe, and remember that God's embrace holds you as you rest. Trust that even if sleep eludes you, peace can settle over you like a gentle blanket.
Tonight, lean into this Psalm. Let peace be your nightly companion—a calm that is deep, not perfect, but honest and lasting.
Reflection Practice:
Before bed, take a few deep breaths. On each exhale, whisper “Shalom.” Notice where calm arises in your body or your emotions, no matter how small the moment of quiet.
