Eshet Chayil (Woman of Valor): The Song of Proverbs 31
In many Jewish homes, Eshet Chayil is sung every Friday night before Kiddush: twenty-two verses, aleph to tav, closing the book of Proverbs. This plan reads the poem slowly, the way it was meant to be heard. It is not a checklist, and no one is grading you. It is a love song and a blessing: worth beyond rubies, hands that build and give, strength and dignity worn like clothing, wisdom and kindness on the tongue. Its last word is the truest one: charm fades and beauty passes, but a heart that holds awe of God shines on. Come as you are. The blessing is already yours.
